WHOLESALE SPORTS CLOSING

Daniel Fritter in , on September 14, 2017

Wholesale Sports employees received word this morning that the chain of 12 outdoor stores across Canada is closing. Undoubtedly the result of pressure from Cabelas and Bass Pro entering the market, as well as Canadian Tire's ongoing expansion of their Hunting Pro Shop program, the big-box retailer closed stores across Canada today, but will re-open tomorrow to clear out excess inventory with a final sale of up to 30% all in stock merchandise... with the exception of firearms and ammunition. All existing online sales will be completed, but no new online orders will be taken, so the sale prices are only available in-store.

The news of Wholesale Sports closing comes after rumours swirled in late 2016 about the company's future, and the closure of Wholesale Sports will be noted by many communities for whom Wholesale Sports was the sole provider of many outdoor items. The slated date for the final closure of the brand's outlets is December 28th.
