MAGPUL LAUNCHES TWO NEW PRODUCTS

Magpul, purveyors of all things tactical, high-speed/low-drag, and dynamic, launched a couple new products recently: Their new M-Lok rubber rail covers, and a nifty extended magazine release for AR-15s.

The rail covers aren't overly interesting, being simple rubber sticks with M-Lok-sized pegs on the back to allow the covers to be affixed to the hand guard, but like a conventional picatinny ladder cover they are at least easily used and easily trimmed to fit. They certainly look cool and undoubtedly add some grip panels to what might otherwise be a slick handguard, as well as provide some protection, should you find yourself frequently resting your barrel on a barricade.

magpul 3Far more interesting, however, is the extended magazine release. Essentially turning the magazine release into a paddle, it will be quite beneficial for shooters with smaller hands, who struggle to hit the release with their index finger. It could also lead to some inadvertent magazine unseatings though, as the button extends beyond the raised portion of the lower receiver, and might also get hooked on gear or slings. We'll know more when we get one for testing. Here's the Magpul press release on their new magazine release:
