At the end of a particularly long day on the SHOT Show floor, we stumbled across an oasis of fun and crazy on the first floor of Sands Expo - bobbing and tilting movements, bright colours, and the familiar orange of target clays. I was exhausted, but within seconds my interest was piqued and my camera was up, ready to tape a demo of this slick mobile clay target throwing system from Crazy Quail. It's safe to say that this is the clay target thrower of every shotgun sportsman's dreams. It's fully customizable and can be controlled with a smartphone or tablet.
The Crazy Quail clay target thrower base rotates 360 degrees, elevates and rolls to create a combination of unique and awesome clay throws. Values for "rotate," "lift" and "roll" can be fully specified and replicated for each throw, so there will be no more claims of unjust games. Each game can also be saved to be played again, or shared with friends and clubs across the world.
Crazy Quail sells its clay target throwers to both gun clubs and individuals, though as an individual you'll need both the space and the money to fund your dream. Packages start at $4,500 USD for the Crazy Quail Mini. However, it's fun to imagine!
For individuals and clubs that already own clay target throwers, the Crazy Quail base can be purchased separately and works with almost any brand of clay target thrower. When the thrower is mounted on the Crazy Quail base, the user gains all of the custom functionality, including wireless control and custom target presentation with 360 rotations, elevation and rolling, of the full Crazy Quail package.
The people we spoke to at the Crazy Quail booth mentioned that these clay target throwers are doing really well at gun clubs and in drawing participation for tournaments, especially. The machine is also popular among hunters, who use it as the most realistic simulation of live bird hunting.
