CAMILLUS CAMTRAX PREVIEW

Camillus recently took the covers off three new products for 2016, and one looks particularly interesting to the serious outdoorsman. Called the Camtrax, Camillus claims they’ve combined a saw, hatchet, and hammer in a single tool, but if we’re honest we’ve yet to see a hatchet that wasn’t made into a satisfactory hammer by simply holding it backwards. However, the inclusion of the folding saw in the Camillus Camtrax' handle is a bit of a new feature, and one that we can see being quite useful.

But the big news? Although not yet available in retailers, the Camillus Camtrax carries a very attractive price-point; coming in at just $59.99 with a molded sheath. The full press release from Camillus follows:

“When it comes to trekking through the outdoors, the last thing you want are tools weighing you down. That’s why Camillus is introducing the Camtrax 3-in-1 Hatchet, a unique new tool that combines a folding saw, hammer and hatchet into a single, multi-purpose tool.

“We’ve taken some of the most frequently used outdoor tools and incorporated them into a single implement,” said Michael Cioffi, Brand Manager for Camillus. “The Camtrax is ideal for camping, hiking or exploring because it eliminates the need to pack individual tools and can also save space in your backpack and cut down on unwanted weight.”

The Camillus Camtrax is constructed from titanium stainless steel, which is much stronger than traditional stainless and offers enhanced water resistance. The handle is made from a glass-filled nylon material, which is extremely durable and rigid.

The 12-inch Camillus Camtrax incorporates a 2.75-inch blade and a large hammer on the butt end of the hatchet. In addition, there’s a folding saw blade that nests inside the hatchet handle. The triple-edge saw blade easily removes from the handle and locks into place when ready to use. Multi-position grips make it comfortable and easy to use the saw when cutting through wood and other materials.”
