Are Canada's police done with gun control?

Surprising statements by the new President of the Canadian Association of the Chiefs of Police, and Vancouver Police Chief Adam Palmer, as well as recently appointed Commissioner of the RCMP Brenda Lucki indicate that Canadian police might be done turning to the oftentimes politicized answer of "more gun control" when the debate about violence in Canada rages... but why? In the face of even more threatened gun bans from the Trudeau government, why would police chiefs and the Commissioner herself take a step back from gun control?
