Apex Optics is off to SHOT Show!

Canada's newest optics company is off to SHOW Show, the world's biggest hunting/fishing/shooting/outdoors show, to promote its new riflescope. Errrr, kind of―Apex won't have its own booth, but its scopes will be mounted on rifles in other displays, and the founder is attending the show and keen to talk business.

Back in October, we gave you a first look at Apex Optics, a Calgary-based company that's designed and is now selling the Rival 4-32x56 mm. This high-end scope is intended for competition and long-range shooting. Apex put together a team of Canadian shooters from disciplines such as IPSC, Steel Challenge, 3-Gun, Precision Rimfire, and Extreme Long Range to decide on the scope's features and specs, and contracted with Japan Optics to build the scope. You can find more details on the scope in our initial write-up here, and in the current print issue of Calibre.

Apex is selling the Rival riflescope direct-to-consumers in Canada (which helps keep costs down), but it also seems to have interest in other markets, as it's headed to SHOT Show this month. Running January 18-22 in Las Vegas, SHOT Show is where the US shooting industry does business, and Apex's new scope is mounted on rifles at the CADEX Defence booth (Booth #70423), MDT's booth (Booth #71113), and the Ultimatum Precision booth (Booth #42537).

It's good to see manufacturers being cooperative, and it's also good to see growing Canadian companies like Apex looking at expanding beyond our own borders, potentially.

We’re thrilled to be able to display the Rival on three different rifles this year – including the brand new CADEX CDX-SS Seven S.T.A.R.S Pro Rifle and an MDT rifle featuring the all new TMBR laminated stock,” says Apex Optics’ CEO and co-founder Vanja Krtolica in the company's press release. “Our Canadian customers should be particularly interested in seeing our scope on the custom Ultimatum Precision rimfire DEUCE action rifle – the perfect combination for an ‘All Canadian’ rimfire competition build.”

With its first scope shipping to customers soon, Apex is looking to launch new designs in coming years. Maybe we'll see new markets as well? There's an insatiable demand for shooting products in the US, right next door, and maybe Apex can join other Canadian companies in helping to fill that void.
